Children ages 2 to 12 years old are invited to enter our Halloween costume contests; costume contest winners will receive two tickets to Knott's Berry Farm.

IN-N-OUT Reading Program

Children ages 4 to 12 are invited to participate in the Cover-to-Cover Reading Club sponsored by IN-N-OUT. Children who complete five hours of reading receive a certificate of achievement and a coupon for a free hamburger or cheeseburger from IN-N-OUT Burger. Sign-up in the Children's Room of the Library for this great reading program that runs through November 19th.

Special Storytime and Book Give-a-Way

On Saturday, September 10th at 11:00 the Buena Park Library will present a Special Storytime. Every child that attends will receive a free new or gently used book upon leaving. This Special Storytime is the Leadership Eagle Scout Project of Kyler Walker and Troop 1400, an event Kyler has named, "Project Literature." Kyler feels, "It is essential that children develop a fond interest in reading while in their early childhood."
No registration is required for this free program and everyone is invited to join Kyler and Miss Mary for stories, a craft and lots of laughs.

Buena Park Has Got Talent

Lord Rusty to Perform on June 30th

On Thursday, June 30th at 6:00 Christopher Yates will perform at the Buena Park Library as Lord Rusty. Christopher has performed on five continents for clients as diverse as the President of Venezuela, the BBC Studios and the San Francisco 49ers football team. Lord Rusty has recently returned from performing at the Sydney Opera House in Australia to perform at the Buena Park Library.
So, gather your young lords and ladies, princes and princesses to be entertained with Lord Rusty's unique, entertaining and interactive program which features comic juggling, songs, magic and audience involvement. All children and their grown-ups are invited to this free show, but come early; seating is limited to the first 250 people.

Each child who attends this Storytime will receive a gently used children's book.

Ms. Baker will entertain children and their grown-ups with music, songs, and stories.

Tween (ages 9-12) Book Discussion at 3:30

Tweens and their grown-ups are invited to share their thoughts on the book Esperanza Rising. After the book discussion we shall have a snack of tortillas, beans, and lemonade.

This special day of Dia de los ninos/Dia de los libros programs is sponsored by the Orange County Chapter of REFORMA and Volunteer Guild of the Buena Park Library District.

Free Puppet Workshop for Children

To celebrate the 13th Annual National Day of Puppetry, the Orange County Puppetry Guild will present a free puppet making workshop for children.

On Saturday, April 23rd at 1:00, children are invited to learn how to make a butterfly puppet and a horse marionette.

This free workshop will be limited to 40 children.

Ms. Mammano will discuss her writing and the importance of healthy living. This special program is the first in a series of programs designed to motivate children and their grown-ups to make healthy choices.

Free Cartooning Class

On Saturday, July 17th from 2:00 to 3:00 the Buena Park Library will present a free cartooning class for children. Dave Boatman will be teaching students how to draw cartoons based on a Pirate theme. This class is designed to inspire and motivate the students to improve their drawing skills. It's fun interactive drawing experience. Students will also learn a little history on the historic Pirates of the Caribbean. This class is free, but registration is required. Be sure to sign-up straightaway because class size is limited.

Buster Balloon Show at Library

The Buster Balloon Show is an inflatable extravaganza of vaudevillian entertainment featuring the human cartoon that is Buster Balloon. a wild and wacky mix of side splitting comedy, mind boggling magic, and the most amazing twisted balloon creations you have ever seen. And did we mention the Giant 6 Foot Whoopee Cushion of doom?

Coloring Contest Winners at Cordelia Knott’s 120th Birthday Celebration

On Saturday, January 23rd at 3:00 p.m. there was a very special storytime at the Buena Park Library. This special storytime featured Christiane Salts, author of Cordelia Knott: Pioneering Business Woman, performing the life story of Mrs. Knott. In celebration of Mrs. Knott’s 120th birthday, Knott’s Berry Farm donated a delicious birthday cake which fed 117 participants.

The winners of the Mrs. Knott coloring contest, Rhea Jethvani and Katherine Ko, each received a lovely basket filled with a Knott’s Berry Farm ticket, a plush Snoopy doll, and Knott’s Berry Farm cookies which were donated by Knott's Berry Farm and the Salts family. Cordelia Knott Birthday Celebration

Save the Date!
On Saturday, January 23rd at 3:00 we will be celebrating the life of Cordelia Knott with a special storytime and birthday celebration. This special storytime will feature Christiane Salts, the author of Cordelia Knott: Pioneering Business Woman. Mrs. Salts will be performing the life story of Mrs. Knott in a way that children can learn about the influence Mrs. Knott has had on Buena Park. In celebration of Mrs. Knott's 120th birthday we will be serving birthday cake & punch and having a door prize drawing for adults. Winners of the Mrs. Knott Coloring Contest will be announced and their prizes will be awarded.
The refreshments and prizes are being supplied by Knott's Berry Farm and the Salts family.

Read-to-Me Reading Program

The Buena Park Library District's Read-to-Me Reading Program is for children five years and younger to stress the importance of reading to young children. Parents who read 25 picture books to their child will be entered into a drawing and may win four Knott's Berry Farm tickets. Children who complete the program may choose a prize from the reading prize box. The reading program begins on January 2nd and will continue until February 6th. Pick-up a reading log in the children's room and Start Reading!
