Flights of Fantasy Holiday Performance

Join us on Saturday, December 17th at 2:30 for a wildly engaging celebration of holiday stories by the Flights of Fantasy storytellers.

Holiday Pop-Up Cards

Children and their grown-ups are invited to join us for an afternoon of holiday pop-up card making. Express yourself at this free event by customizing your holiday greetings to your family and friends.

Costume Contest and Party

The Buena Park Library is celebrating Halloween on Saturday, October 29th from 2:30 to 4:00. Children and their grown-ups are invited to join us for an afternoon of games, refreshments and lots of fun. Children ages 2 to 12 years old are invited to enter our Halloween costume contests; costume contest winners will receive two tickets to Knott's Berry Farm.

IN-N-OUT Reading Program

Children ages 4 to 12 are invited to participate in the Cover-to-Cover Reading Club sponsored by IN-N-OUT. Children who complete five hours of reading receive a certificate of achievement and a coupon for a free hamburger or cheeseburger from IN-N-OUT Burger. Sign-up in the Children's Room of the Library for this great reading program that runs through November 19th.

Fantabulous Fridays at the Buena Park Library

Calling all Kids!
Come celebrate the end of the school week at the Library. Join us each Friday at 3:00 for crafts, board games, Wii games, chess and snacks. No registration is required to attend this free program.

September is Library Card Sign-up Month

School has begun and you can start smart by getting one of your most important school supplies for FREE. Celebrate Library Card Sign-up month by getting your very own library card. Once you get your library card stop by the children's room for a free bookmark.

Special Storytime and Book Give-a-Way

On Saturday, September 10th at 11:00 the Buena Park Library will present a Special Storytime. Every child that attends will receive a free new or gently used book upon leaving. This Special Storytime is the Leadership Eagle Scout Project of Kyler Walker and Troop 1400, an event Kyler has named, "Project Literature." Kyler feels, "It is essential that children develop a fond interest in reading while in their early childhood."
No registration is required for this free program and everyone is invited to join Kyler and Miss Mary for stories, a craft and lots of laughs.

Buena Park Has Got Talent

Everyone is invited to cheer on Buena Park's talented children and teens as they perform on Saturday, August 13th at 2:30. You will be impressed and entertained by our talented singers, dancers, and musicians. Refreshments will be served after the performances.

Lord Rusty to Perform on June 30th

On Thursday, June 30th at 6:00 Christopher Yates will perform at the Buena Park Library as Lord Rusty. Christopher has performed on five continents for clients as diverse as the President of Venezuela, the BBC Studios and the San Francisco 49ers football team. Lord Rusty has recently returned from performing at the Sydney Opera House in Australia to perform at the Buena Park Library.
So, gather your young lords and ladies, princes and princesses to be entertained with Lord Rusty's unique, entertaining and interactive program which features comic juggling, songs, magic and audience involvement. All children and their grown-ups are invited to this free show, but come early; seating is limited to the first 250 people.

Storyteller, Miss Mary-Pat

On Thursday, June 23rd at 6:00 all children and their grown-ups are invited to enjoy the lively and engaging Storytime Shenanigans of Miss Mary-Pat. Come early, you do not want to miss this delightful free show; seating is limited to the first 250 people.

Three special Programs to Celebrate
The Day of the Child / The Day of the Book

Special Storytime and Craft at 11:00

Each child who attends this Storytime will receive a gently used children's book.

Bilingual performance by Georgette Baker at 2:30

Ms. Baker will entertain children and their grown-ups with music, songs, and stories.

Tween (ages 9-12) Book Discussion at 3:30

Tweens and their grown-ups are invited to share their thoughts on the book Esperanza Rising. After the book discussion we shall have a snack of tortillas, beans, and lemonade.

This special day of Dia de los ninos/Dia de los libros programs is sponsored by the Orange County Chapter of REFORMA and Volunteer Guild of the Buena Park Library District.

Free Puppet Workshop for Children

To celebrate the 13th Annual National Day of Puppetry, the Orange County Puppetry Guild will present a free puppet making workshop for children.

On Saturday, April 23rd at 1:00, children are invited to learn how to make a butterfly puppet and a horse marionette.

This free workshop will be limited to 40 children.

National Library Week

In celebration of National Library Week (April 12 - 16), every child who visits the Library's Children's Area will receive a free " Don't Bug Me, I'm Reading" door hanger, bookmark, and sticker.

April is Poetry Month

Celebrate Poetry Month with us by writing a poem and adding it to our Poet-tree. Leaves available in the Children's Room.

Buena Park Reads Together

Join us on Saturday, April 2nd at 2:00 for our Buena Park Reads Together kick-off event. We will have refreshments, crafts for the kids, storytelling with puppets, and much more.

Tweens (ages 9-12) and their grown-ups are invited to sign-up for our Special Book Discussion group that will read Esperanza Rising and will meet on Saturday, April 30th at 3:30 to discuss the book and try our hand at making homemade tortillas.

On Wednesday, March 2nd at 6:30 the Buena Park Library will celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday with a Special Read Across America Storytime. Children and their grown-ups are invited to join us for an evening full of fun stories, crafts, and refreshments.
